The project is being constructed by MCS Group with project management services being undertaken by Lambert Smith Hampton. Structural and civil engineering services have been delivered by Calcinotto, with Collina MEP providing the services design and Evolution5 assuming the role of principal designer. The new building provides over 6,000 sq ft of new display space across three separate showroom areas, as well as a 6,500 sq ft eleven-bay workshop, two of which are dedicated for MOT use. Supporting office and administrative areas, a parts department, and dedicated wet and dry valet facilities are also included.

The showroom space will allow Richmond to expand their franchises in addition to their well-established Hyundai offering, for whom they have been Europe's number one dealer for several years. As part of the Group’s continuing commitment to sustainability, numerous EV chargers are provided inside and outside of the building, in addition to comprehensive photovoltaic panel coverage on the south-facing roof.

In addition to the Saltbox development, we are currently working on a number of future projects with Richmond as they look to capitalise on the success of their brand and maintain their growth. Having delivered their flagship Farlington facility and worked on the redevelopment proposals for their Southampton showroom in the past, I have personally enjoyed maintaining my ongoing relationship with Richmond and leading on their projects within the office.

Practical completion at Saltbox is due in October this year, with a fit-out and furnishing period to follow, meaning that the new facility will open its doors to customers in January 2023.
