How are the requirements of Passive House (PH) achieved?

PH adopts a whole building approach with defined measured targets and is focused on high-quality construction detailing and components. The following five basic design principles must be applied to the construction of all PH buildings to achieve the required targets.

Following qualification as a certified Passive House Designer (PHD) in 2023, I set out below an overview of Passive House (PH) and the core ideas behind it. I highlight the benefits of adopting the standard, the way to achieve it, and the role of the Passive House Designer. In doing so I hope there will be some myth busting along the way.

Our Associate Director Andrew Hoare was a speaker at the Portsmouth Property Association conference. His presentation regarded the importance of retro fit and repurposing of buildings to the future of the property and development industry.

The 2023 Boyle & Summers study tour is over for another year and we’re back in the office. Our study tours are an opportunity to thank staff and build deeper relationships across the team.

This year our tour visit was to Antwerp. The team put in some serious steps to cover the core of the old city radiating out from the banks of the Scheldt River and the emerging modern city, from urban architecture
to showpiece global architectural set pieces.

We are pleased to announce that we re-opened today in new offices following on from the Christmas break. A literal door down from our previous studio, our team can now be found beavering away at Suite E, on the First Floor of Ferry House, Canute Road, SO14 3FJ.

Our new home in the South West will allow us to expand on and refer to our existing experience in the region, as well as extend in to sectors and services well established at our Southampton studio.

We’re delighted to have won the award for Commercial Development of the Year for Ocean Infinity, Woolston.

The project commenced on site earlier this year after gaining planning permission as part of the wider Saltbox development in 2019.

We are thrilled to announce that our client Landlink Estates has secured planning permission for up to 140 dwellings in Yapton, Arun District of West Sussex.
